The Two Sticks
15 The word of the Lord came to me: 16 Mortal, take a stick and write on it, “For Judah, and the Israelites associated with it”; then take another stick and write on it, “For Joseph (the stick of Ephraim) and all the house of Israel associated with it”; 17 and join them together into one stick, so that they may become one in your hand. 18 And when your people say to you, “Will you not show us what you mean by these?” 19 say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I am about to take the stick of Joseph (which is in the hand of Ephraim) and the tribes of Israel associated with it; and I will put the stick of Judah upon it,[a] and make them one stick, in order that they may be one in my hand. 20 When the sticks on which you write are in your hand before their eyes, 21 then say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from every quarter, and bring them to their own land. 22 I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all. Never again shall they be two nations, and never again shall they be divided into two kingdoms. 23 They shall never again defile themselves with their idols and their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions. I will save them from all the apostasies into which they have fallen,[b] and will cleanse them. Then they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
24 My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall follow my ordinances and be careful to observe my statutes. 25 They shall live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your ancestors lived; they and their children and their children’s children shall live there forever; and my servant David shall be their prince forever. 26 I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will bless[c] them and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forevermore. 27 My dwelling place shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28 Then the nations shall know that I the Lord sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forevermore.

Poi prenditi un altro pezzo di legno e scrivici sopra: “Per Giuseppe, bastone di Efraim e di tutta la casa d’Israele che gli è associata”. 17 Poi accostali l’uno all’altro per farne un solo pezzo di legno, in modo che siano uniti nella tua mano. 18 Quando i figli del tuo popolo ti parleranno e ti diranno: “Non ci spiegherai forse che cosa vuoi dire con queste cose?”, 19 tu risponderai loro: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Ecco, io prenderò il pezzo di legno di Giuseppe, che è in mano di Efraim, e le tribù d’Israele, che sono a lui associate, e li unirò a questo, che è il pezzo di legno di Giuda, e ne farò un solo legno, in modo che saranno una sola cosa nella mia mano”. 20 I legni sui quali tu avrai scritto, li terrai in mano tua, sotto i loro occhi.
21 E di’ loro: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “Ecco, io prenderò i figli d’Israele dalle nazioni dove sono andati, li radunerò da tutte le parti, e li ricondurrò nel loro paese. 22 Farò di loro una stessa nazione, nel paese, sui monti d’Israele; un solo re sarà re di tutti loro, non saranno più due nazioni e non saranno più divisi in due regni. 23 Non si contamineranno più con i loro idoli, con le loro abominazioni, né con le loro numerose trasgressioni; io li tirerò fuori da tutti i luoghi dove hanno abitato e dove hanno peccato, li purificherò; essi saranno mio popolo e io sarò loro Dio. 24 Il mio servo Davide sarà re sopra di loro ed essi avranno tutti un medesimo pastore; cammineranno secondo le mie prescrizioni, osserveranno le mie leggi e le metteranno in pratica. 25 Abiteranno nel paese che io diedi al mio servo Giacobbe, dove abitarono i vostri padri; vi abiteranno essi, i loro figli e i figli dei loro figli per sempre, e il mio servo Davide sarà loro principe per sempre. 26 Io farò con loro un patto di pace: sarà un patto perenne con loro; li stabilirò fermamente, li moltiplicherò e metterò il mio santuario in mezzo a loro per sempre. 27 La mia dimora sarà presso di loro; io sarò loro Dio ed essi saranno mio popolo[a]. 28 Le nazioni conosceranno che io sono il Signore che santifico Israele, quando il mio santuario sarà per sempre in mezzo a loro”».

15 Und das Wort des Herrn erging an mich folgendermaßen:
16 Du, Menschensohn, nimm dir einen Holzstab und schreibe darauf: »Für Juda und die Kinder Israels, seine Mitverbundenen«. Dann nimm einen anderen Holzstab und schreibe darauf: »Für Joseph, den Holzstab Ephraims, und das ganze Haus Israel, seine Mitverbundenen«.
17 Danach füge die beiden zusammen, einen zum anderen, damit ein Holzstab daraus werde; ja, zu einem einzigen sollen sie werden in deiner Hand.
18 Wenn dann die Kinder deines Volkes zu dir sagen: »Willst du uns nicht erklären, was du damit meinst?«,
19 so gib ihnen zur Antwort: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Siehe, ich will den Holzstab Josephs nehmen, der in der Hand Ephraims und der Stämme Israels, seiner Mitverbundenen, ist, und will ihn zu dem Holzstab Judas hinzufügen und sie zu einem einzigen Holzstab machen, und sie sollen eins werden in meiner Hand!
20 Und die Holzstäbe, auf die du geschrieben hast, sollst du vor ihren Augen in deiner Hand halten.
21 Und sage zu ihnen: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Siehe, ich werde die Kinder Israels aus den Heidenvölkern zurückholen, unter die sie gekommen sind, und sie von ringsumher sammeln und sie in ihr Land führen.
22 Und ich werde sie im Land, auf den Bergen Israels, zu einem einzigen Volk machen; sie sollen alle nur einen einzigen König haben, sie sollen auch künftig nicht mehr zwei Völker bilden, noch in zwei Reiche zerteilt werden.
23 Und sie sollen sich auch künftig nicht mehr verunreinigen mit ihren Götzen und mit ihren Scheusalen und durch allerlei Übertretungen. Und ich will ihnen aus allen ihren Wohnorten, in denen sie gesündigt haben, heraushelfen und will sie reinigen; und sie werden mein Volk sein, und ich werde ihr Gott sein.
24 Und mein Knecht David soll ihr König sein, und sie sollen alle einen einzigen Hirten haben. Und sie werden in meinen Rechtsbestimmungen wandeln und meine Satzungen bewahren und sie tun.
25 Sie werden wieder in dem Land wohnen, das ich meinem Knecht Jakob gegeben habe, in dem auch eure Väter gewohnt haben. Ja, darin sollen sie in Ewigkeit wohnen, sie und ihre Kinder und Kindeskinder; und mein Knecht David soll ihr Fürst sein auf ewig.
26 Ich will auch einen Bund des Friedens mit ihnen schließen; ein ewiger Bund soll mit ihnen bestehen, und ich will sie sesshaft machen und mehren; ich will mein Heiligtum auf ewig in ihre Mitte stellen.
27 Meine Wohnung wird bei ihnen sein, und ich will ihr Gott sein, und sie sollen mein Volk sein.
28 Und die Heidenvölker werden erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin, der Israel heiligt, wenn mein Heiligtum in Ewigkeit in ihrer Mitte sein wird.

15 Az Örökkévaló szava érkezett hozzám: 16 „Ember fia, fogj egy fadarabot, és írd rá: »Júda és társai[a], Izráel fiai«! Majd végy egy másik fadarabot, és ezt írd rá: »József, Efraim, és társai, Izráel egész népe«! 17 Azután illeszd egymáshoz a két darabot — legyenek eggyé a kezedben!
18 Amikor majd néped fiai megkérdeznek, hogy mit akarsz ezzel jelezni, 19 mondd nekik: Ezt üzeni Uram, az Örökkévaló: Nézzétek! Kezembe veszem József fáját, amely Efraim kezében van, és azokat az izráeli törzseket, amelyek vele tartanak, és hozzáillesztem őket Júda fájához. Egy fává teszem őket: az én kezemben valóban eggyé lesznek!
20 A két fadarabot szorítsd össze a markodban az emberek szeme láttára, 21 és mondd nekik: Ezt mondja Uram, az Örökkévaló: Nézzétek! 24 Szolgám, Dávid lesz a királyuk: egyetlen pásztora lesz egész népemnek. Törvényeim szerint élnek, és engedelmeskednek parancsaimnak. Amit mondok nekik, megteszik. 25 Ott laknak, azon a földön, amelyet szolgámnak, Jákóbnak adtam, s amelyen őseik is laktak. Bizony, ott fognak élni gyermekeikkel sőt, az unokáikkal együtt, és azontúl mindig. Szolgám, Dávid pedig fejedelmük lesz örökké. 26 Szövetséget kötök velük békességre és bőségre, és ez a szövetség örökké érvényes marad. 16 Fils d’homme, prends un morceau de bois, et grave dessus : « Pour Juda et les Israélites qui en font partie ». Puis tu prendras un autre morceau de bois, un morceau de bois pour Ephraïm, et tu inscriras dessus : « Pour Joseph et pour toute la communauté d’Israël qui en fait partie ». 17 Ensuite, tu joindras les deux morceaux l’un à l’autre pour n’avoir qu’une pièce unique, en sorte que les deux morceaux n’en fassent qu’un dans ta main.
18 Lorsque tes compatriotes te demanderont : « Explique-nous ce que cela signifie pour toi », 19 tu leur répondras : « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Je vais prendre le bois de Joseph qui est dans la main d’Ephraïm et les tribus d’Israël qui en font partie, je le joindrai au bois de Juda et je ferai des deux un seul morceau : ils seront un dans ma main. »
20 Tu garderas en main, bien visibles pour eux, les morceaux de bois sur lesquels tu auras fait ces inscriptions, 21 et tu leur diras : « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Je vais prendre les Israélites du milieu des peuples chez lesquels ils sont allés, je les rassemblerai de tous les pays alentour, je les ramènerai dans leur pays, 22 et je ferai d’eux une seule nation dans le pays, sur les montagnes d’Israël. Un roi unique régnera sur eux tous, ils ne formeront plus deux nations et ne seront plus divisés en deux royaumes. 23 Ils ne se rendront plus impurs par le culte rendu à leurs idoles et à leurs divinités abominables, et par toutes leurs transgressions. Je les tirerai de tous leurs lieux d’habitation où ils ont péché[a], et je les purifierai ; ils seront mon peuple et je serai leur Dieu.
24 Mon serviteur David sera leur roi, il sera l’unique berger pour eux tous, ils vivront selon mes commandements, et obéiront à mes lois pour les appliquer. 25 Ils habiteront dans le pays que j’ai donné à mon serviteur Jacob et dans lequel ont vécu leurs ancêtres ; ils y demeureront, eux, leurs enfants et leurs petits-enfants à perpétuité, et mon serviteur David sera pour toujours prince sur eux.
26 Je conclurai avec eux une alliance garantissant la paix ; ce sera une alliance éternelle avec eux ; je les établirai et je les rendrai nombreux, je fixerai pour toujours mon sanctuaire au milieu d’eux. 27 Ma demeure sera près d’eux, je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple[b]. 28 Et les autres peuples reconnaîtront que je suis l’Eternel qui fait d’Israël un peuple saint en plaçant mon sanctuaire pour toujours au milieu d’eux. »
