16 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel was living on their own land, they (A)defiled it by their ways and their deeds; their way before Me was like (B)the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity. 18 Therefore I (C)poured out My wrath on them for the blood which they had shed on the land, because they had defiled it with their idols. 19 I also (D)scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the lands. (E)According to their ways and their deeds I judged them. 20 When they came to the nations where they went, they (F)profaned My holy name, because it was said of them, ‘These are the (G)people of the Lord, yet they have left His land.’ 21 But I had [a]concern for My (H)holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.

Their ways before me were polluted like the blood of menstruation, 18 and so I poured out my fury on them for all the blood they had poured out on the land and for all the defilement of their idols. 19 When I scattered them to the nations and dispersed them into other lands, I judged them according to their ways and deeds. 20 But then when they entered the other nations, they degraded my holy name because it was said of them, “These are the Lord’s people, yet they had to leave his land.” 21 So I had compassion on my holy name, which the house of Israel degraded among the nations where they had gone.
