²⁵ Then I will ^(A)sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your ^(B)filthiness and from all your ^(C)idols. ²⁶ Moreover, I will give you a ^(D)new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the ^(E)heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ I will ^(F)put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.

³ Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one ^(A)is born ^[a]again he cannot see ^(B)the kingdom of God.”

¹² Now we ^(A)have received, not the spirit of ^(B)the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, ¹³ which things we also speak, ^(C)not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, ^[a]combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is ^(A)in Christ, ^[a]he is ^(B)a new creature; ^(C)the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Made Alive in Christ

2 And you ^[a]were ^(A)dead ^[b]in your trespasses and sins, ² in which you ^(B)formerly walked according to the ^[c]course of ^(C)this world, according to ^(D)the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in ^(E)the sons of disobedience. ³ Among them we too all ^(F)formerly lived in ^(G)the lusts of our flesh, ^[d]indulging the desires of the flesh and of the ^[e]mind, and were ^(H)by nature ^(I)children of wrath, ^(J)even as the rest.

⁴ But God, being ^(A)rich in mercy, because of ^(B)His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even when we were ^(C)dead ^[a]in our transgressions, made us alive together ^[b]with Christ (^(D)by grace you have been saved),
