⁵ So they were scattered because there was no shepherd,^(A) and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals.^(B)

³⁶ When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them,^(A) because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.^(B)

¹⁶ Then Micaiah answered, “I saw all Israel^(A) scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd,^(B) and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’”

⁸ As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered^(A) and has become food for all the wild animals,^(B) and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock,^(C)

² Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds^(A) who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock^(B) and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil^(C) you have done,” declares the Lord.

²⁹ I know that after I leave, savage wolves^(A) will come in among you and will not spare the flock.^{(B) 30} Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples^(C) after them. ³¹ So be on your guard! Remember that for three years^(D) I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.^(E)
