¹⁵ if the wicked restore the pledge, give back what they have taken by robbery, and walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity—they shall surely live; they shall not die.^(A)

¹¹ I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, by whose observance everyone shall live.^(A)

⁸ Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.”^(A)

Laws of Restitution

22 ^[a]“When someone steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, the thief shall pay five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep. ^2 [b](If the thief is found breaking in and is struck dead, no bloodguilt is incurred;^{(A) 3} but if it happens after sunrise, bloodguilt is incurred.) The thief shall make full restitution or, if unable to do so, shall be sold for the theft.^{(B) 4} When the animal, whether ox or donkey or sheep, is found alive in the thief’s possession, the thief shall pay double.

⁷ does not oppress anyone but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment,^(A)

⁵ You shall keep my statutes and my ordinances; by doing so one shall live: I am the Lord.^(A)

² “When any of you sin and commit a trespass against the Lord by deceiving a neighbor in a matter of a deposit or a pledge or by robbery or if you have defrauded a neighbor^{(A) 3} or have found something lost and lied about it—if you swear falsely regarding any of the various things that one may do and sin^(B)— ⁴ when you have sinned and recognize your guilt and would restore what you took by robbery or by fraud or the deposit that was committed to you or the lost thing that you found ⁵ or anything else about which you have sworn falsely, you shall repay the principal amount and add one-fifth to it. You shall pay it to its owner when you recognize your guilt.^(C)

¹² “See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone’s work.^{(A) 13} I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

¹⁴ Blessed are those who wash their robes,^[a] so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.

⁶ Both of them were righteous before God, living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.^(A)
