  1. Ezekiel 3:11 tn Heb “to the sons of your people.”
  2. Ezekiel 3:12 sn See note on “wind” in 2:2.
  3. Ezekiel 3:12 tc This translation accepts the emendation suggested in BHS of בְּרוּם (berum, “in the lifting”) for בָּרוּךְ (barukh). The letters mem (מ) and kaf (כ) were easily confused in the old script, while בָּרוּךְ (“blessed be”) implies a quotation, which is out of place here. The word also does not fit the later phrase “from its place,” which requires a verb of motion.

11 And go to the exiles, (A)to your people, and speak to them and say to them, (B)‘Thus says the Lord God,’ (C)whether they hear or refuse to hear.”

12 (D)Then the Spirit[a] lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice[b] of (E)a great earthquake: “Blessed be the glory of the Lord from its place!” 13 It was the sound of the wings of (F)the living creatures as they touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of (G)a great earthquake.
