³²Ja, in ihrem Schmerz stimmen sie ein Klagelied an:

›Was auf der Welt konnte man mit Tyrus vergleichen,
dieser Stadt, die nun totenstill im Meer ruht?
³³Als deine Kaufleute über die Ozeane segelten,
haben sie vielen Völkern Schätze gebracht.
Deine Waren ließen Könige aus allen Winkeln der Erde
zu großem Reichtum gelangen.
³⁴Jetzt aber bist du zerbrochen
und in den Tiefen des Meeres versunken.
Deine Güter und dein ganzer Reichtum –
nichts ist mehr davon zu sehen!

³²As they wail and mourn over you,
    they will take up a lament^(A) concerning you:
“Who was ever silenced like Tyre,
    surrounded by the sea?^(B)”
³³When your merchandise went out on the seas,^(C)
    you satisfied many nations;
with your great wealth^(D) and your wares
    you enriched the kings of the earth.
³⁴Now you are shattered by the sea
    in the depths of the waters;
your wares and all your company
    have gone down with you.^(E)

    like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?
³³When your wares came from the seas,
    ^(C)you satisfied many peoples;
with your abundant wealth and merchandise
    ^(D)you enriched the kings of the earth.
³⁴Now ^(E)you are wrecked by the seas,
    in the depths of the waters;
your merchandise and all your crew in your midst
    have sunk with you.
