A Prophecy Against Moab

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Moab[a] and Seir say, “Look, the house of Judah is like all the other nations.” So look, I am about to open up Moab’s flank,[b] eliminating the cities,[c] including its frontier cities,[d] the beauty of the land—Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon, and Kiriathaim. 10 I will hand it over,[e] along with the Ammonites,[f] to the tribes[g] of the east, so that the Ammonites will no longer be remembered among the nations. 11 I will execute judgments against Moab. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’”

A Message for Moab

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because the people of Moab[a] have said that Judah is just like all the other nations, I will open up their eastern flank and wipe out their glorious frontier towns—Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim. 10 And I will hand Moab over to nomads from the eastern deserts, just as I handed over Ammon. Yes, the Ammonites will no longer be counted among the nations. 11 In the same way, I will bring my judgment down on the Moabites. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
