A Prophecy Against Philistia

15 “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘The Philistines[a] have exacted merciless revenge,[b] showing intense scorn[c] in their effort to destroy Judah[d] with unrelenting hostility.[e] 16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Take note, I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines. I will kill[f] the Kerethites[g] and destroy those who remain on the seacoast. 17 I will exact great vengeance upon them with angry rebukes.[h] Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I exact my vengeance upon them.’”

  7. Ezekiel 25:16 sn This is a name for the Philistines, many of whom migrated to Palestine from Crete.
  8. Ezekiel 25:17 tn Heb “with acts of punishment of anger.”

Prophesy Against Philistia

15 ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Because the Philistines have acted in (A)revenge and have taken vengeance with scorn of soul to bring ruin with everlasting enmity,” 16 therefore thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I will (B)stretch out My hand against the Philistines and cut off the (C)Cherethites and cause the remnant of the seacoast to perish. 17 So I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful reproofs; and they will (D)know that I am Yahweh when I lay My vengeance on them.”’”
