The Bloody City
22 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 You, mortal, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then declare to it all its abominable deeds. 3 You shall say, Thus says the Lord God: A city! Shedding blood within itself; its time has come; making its idols, defiling itself. 4 You have become guilty by the blood that you have shed, and defiled by the idols that you have made; you have brought your day near, the appointed time of your years has come. Therefore I have made you a disgrace before the nations, and a mockery to all the countries. 5 Those who are near and those who are far from you will mock you, you infamous one, full of tumult.
6 The princes of Israel in you, everyone according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood. 7 Father and mother are treated with contempt in you; the alien residing within you suffers extortion; the orphan and the widow are wronged in you. 8 You have despised my holy things, and profaned my sabbaths. 9 In you are those who slander to shed blood, those in you who eat upon the mountains, who commit lewdness in your midst. 10 In you they uncover their fathers’ nakedness; in you they violate women in their menstrual periods. 11 One commits abomination with his neighbor’s wife; another lewdly defiles his daughter-in-law; another in you defiles his sister, his father’s daughter. 12 In you, they take bribes to shed blood; you take both advance interest and accrued interest, and make gain of your neighbors by extortion; and you have forgotten me, says the Lord God.
13 See, I strike my hands together at the dishonest gain you have made, and at the blood that has been shed within you. 14 Can your courage endure, or can your hands remain strong in the days when I shall deal with you? I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it. 15 I will scatter you among the nations and disperse you through the countries, and I will purge your filthiness out of you. 16 And I[a] shall be profaned through you in the sight of the nations; and you shall know that I am the Lord.
17 The word of the Lord came to me: 18 Mortal, the house of Israel has become dross to me; all of them, silver,[b] bronze, tin, iron, and lead. In the smelter they have become dross. 19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

Falle dunque conoscere tutte le sue abominazioni 3 e di’: Così parla il Signore, Dio: “O città che spandi il sangue in mezzo a te stessa perché il tuo tempo giunga, e che ti fai idoli per contaminarti! 4 Per il sangue che hai sparso ti sei resa colpevole, e per gli idoli che hai fatto ti sei contaminata. Tu hai fatto avvicinare i tuoi giorni e sei giunta al termine dei tuoi anni; perciò io ti espongo all’insulto delle nazioni e allo scherno di tutti i paesi. 5 Quelli che ti sono vicini e quelli che ti sono lontani si faranno beffe di te, o tu che sei macchiata d’infamia e piena di disordine!

13 “Ma ecco, io batto le mani, a motivo del disonesto guadagno che fai e del sangue da te sparso in mezzo a te. 14 Il tuo cuore reggerà forse, o le tue mani saranno forti il giorno che io agirò contro di te? Io, il Signore, ho parlato e lo farò. 15 Io ti disperderò fra le nazioni, ti disseminerò per i paesi e toglierò via da te tutta la tua immondezza; 16 tu sarai profanata da te stessa agli occhi delle nazioni e conoscerai che io sono il Signore”».

3 und sprich: So spricht Gott, der Herr: O Stadt, die in ihrer Mitte Blut vergießt, damit ihre Zeit komme, und die bei sich selbst Götzen macht, damit sie sich verunreinige!
4 Du hast dich mit Schuld beladen durch das Blut, das du vergossen hast, und hast dich verunreinigt durch deine selbst gemachten Götzen; du hast bewirkt, dass deine Tage[a] herannahen, und bist zu deinen Jahren gekommen! Darum will ich dich zum Hohn machen für die Heiden und zum Gespött für alle Länder.
5 Sie seien nahe oder fern von dir, so sollen sie dich verspotten, weil du einen schlimmen Ruf hast[b] und völlig verstört bist.
6 Siehe, die Fürsten Israels haben jeder seine Gewalt in dir missbraucht, um Blut zu vergießen.
7 Man hat in dir Vater und Mutter verachtet, man hat in deiner Mitte dem Fremdling Gewalt angetan, man hat in dir Witwen und Waisen bedrängt.
8 Meine Heiligtümer hast du verachtet und meine Sabbate entheiligt.

13 Darum siehe, ich habe meine Hände zusammengeschlagen über den unrechtmäßigen Gewinn, den du gemacht hast, und über dein Blutvergießen, das in dir geschehen ist.
14 Wird dein Herz es aushalten und werden deine Hände stark sein in den Tagen, da ich mit dir abrechnen werde? Ich, der Herr, habe es geredet und werde es tun!
15 Ich will dich unter die Heidenvölker versprengen und in die Länder zerstreuen und deine Unreinheit gänzlich von dir wegtun.
16 Und du wirst durch dich selbst entweiht werden vor den Augen der Heidenvölker; und du sollst erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin!
17 Und das Wort des Herrn erging an mich folgendermaßen:
18 Menschensohn, das Haus Israel ist mir zu Schlacken geworden! Sie alle sind wie Erz, Zinn, Eisen und Blei im Schmelzofen; zu Silberschlacken sind sie geworden.

22 Az Örökkévaló szava érkezett hozzám: 2 „Ember fia, hirdesd ki az ártatlanokat gyilkoló város ítéletét! Olvasd fejére miden utálatos bűnét! 3 Mondd neki: Ezt üzeni Uram, az Örökkévaló: Eljön a megbüntetésed ideje, te város! Ártatlanokat gyilkoltak benned, és bálványokat állítottak fel, amellyekkel bemocskoltad magad!
4 Az ártatlanok vére bűnnel terhelt meg, a bálványok pedig bemocskoltak téged. Így siettetted ítéleted idejét, így érkeztél el éveid végéhez! Emiatt gyalázatossá teszlek a népek előtt, csúfolni fognak téged a nemzetek! 5 Bizony, a közel és távol lakók gúnyolni fognak téged, mert rossz híred van, és folyvást viszálykodsz!

A város, amely rólam elfelejtkezett!” — azt mondja Uram, az Örökkévaló.
13 „Így hát én is összecsapom kezem nyerészkedéseid és a benned meggyilkolt ártatlanok vére miatt! 14 Meg tudsz-e állni előttem, lesz-e elég erő a karodban, amikor elszámolok veled? — ezt én, az Örökkévaló mondtam, és meg is teszem! 15 Szétszórlak titeket a népek közé, elszélesztelek a föld országaiban, és véget vetek minden utálatos tisztátalanságotoknak! 16 Gyalázatos leszel a népek előtt — akkor fogod igazán megtudni, és elismerni, hogy én vagyok az Örökkévaló!”

Olyan az egész nép, mint az olvasztókemence közepén a salak: van abban bronz, ón, vas és ólom is, csak éppen ezüst nincsen! 19-20 Ezért azt mondja Uram, az Örökkévaló: Ó Izráel, mind salakká lettetek! Ezért haragomban összegyűjtelek benneteket Jeruzsálembe, mint ahogy az olvasztókemence közepére felhalmozzák az ezüstöt, bronzot, vasat, ólmot és ónt. 22 L’Eternel m’adressa la parole et me dit :
2 Fils d’homme, porte un jugement sur la ville pleine de meurtres ! N’hésite pas à le faire et dénonce tous ses actes abominables. 3 Dis-leur : « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Voilà une ville qui répand le sang au milieu d’elle pour faire venir le jour du jugement, et qui fabrique des idoles pour se rendre impure.
4 Tu t’es rendue coupable par le sang que tu as répandu et tu t’es rendue impure par les idoles que tu as fabriquées. Tu as ainsi précipité les jours de ton jugement et la fin de tes années arrive. C’est pourquoi je te livre aux outrages des autres peuples et aux railleries de tous les pays. 5 Ville impure, pleine de troubles, ceux qui sont près et ceux qui sont loin se moqueront de toi.
6 Voici : chez toi, tous les dirigeants d’Israël profitent de leur pouvoir[a] pour commettre des meurtres. 7 Chez toi, on méprise père et mère. Chez toi, on maltraite l’étranger, on opprime l’orphelin et la veuve[b]. 8 On méprise ce qui est saint, on profane les jours de sabbat. 9 Chez toi, il y a des gens qui calomnient leur prochain pour l’assassiner. Chez toi, les gens prennent part aux repas de sacrifices sur les montagnes. On fait des choses abominables au milieu de toi. 10 Chez toi, il y a des gens qui ont des relations sexuelles avec la femme de leur père ; chez toi, il y en a qui abusent d’une femme pendant son indisposition[c]. 11 L’un commet des abominations avec la femme de son prochain, l’autre, abominable, déshonore sa belle-fille, un troisième viole sa sœur, fille de son père, chez toi. 12 Chez toi, on se laisse corrompre par des présents pour répandre le sang. Tu prêtes à un taux usuraire et tu exiges de l’intérêt. Tu extorques le bien de ton prochain par la violence, et moi, tu m’oublies, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare.
13 Mais voici : je vais frapper dans mes mains à cause de tes profits malhonnêtes et du sang répandu au milieu de toi. 14 Ton courage tiendra-t-il bon, tes mains seront-elles fermes au jour où j’interviendrai contre toi ? Moi, l’Eternel, j’ai parlé et j’agirai. 15 Je te disperserai parmi des peuples étrangers et te disséminerai à travers divers pays, et je ferai disparaître totalement la souillure du milieu de toi. 16 Tu t’es toi-même profanée aux yeux des autres peuples, mais tu reconnaîtras que je suis l’Eternel. »
