^25 (A)Moreover, I gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life,

³⁹ “As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: ^(A)Go serve every one of you his idols, now and hereafter, if you will not listen to me; ^(B)but my holy name you shall no more profane with your gifts and your idols.

⁹ The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan ^(A)with all power and false signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with all wicked deception for ^(B)those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ Therefore ^(C)God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe ^(D)what is false,

²⁶ and I defiled them through ^(A)their very gifts ^(B)in their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it ^(C)that they might know that I am the Lord.

⁹ And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, ^(A)I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. ¹⁰ And they shall bear their punishment^[a]—the punishment of the prophet and the punishment of the inquirer shall be alike— ¹¹ that the house of Israel may no more go astray from me, nor ^(B)defile themselves anymore with all their transgressions, ^(C)but that they may be my people and I may be their God, declares the Lord God.”

³⁶ “The Lord will ^(A)bring you and your king whom you set over you to a nation that neither you ^(B)nor your fathers have known. And ^(C)there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone.

²⁷ And the Lord ^(A)will scatter you among the peoples, ^(B)and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. ²⁸ And ^(C)there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, ^(D)that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
