Tinawag si Ezekiel na Maging Propeta
2 Sinabi sa akin ng tinig, “Anak ng tao, tumayo ka dahil may sasabihin ako sa iyo.” 2 Habang kinakausap ako ng tinig, pinuspos ako ng kapangyarihan ng Espiritu at itinayo ako. Pinakinggan ko ang tinig na kumakausap sa akin. 3 Sinabi niya, “Anak ng tao, isusugo kita sa mga mamamayan ng Israel, ang rebeldeng bansa. Mula pa noong panahon ng kanilang mga ninuno hanggang ngayon ay nagrerebelde sila sa akin. 4 Matitigas ang ulo nila at mga lapastangan sila. Ako, ang Panginoong Dios, ang nagsusugo sa iyo sa mga taong ito para sabihin ang ipinapasabi ko sa kanila. 5 Makinig man ang mga rebeldeng ito o hindi, malalaman naman nila na may propeta pala sa kanila. 6 At ikaw, anak ng tao, huwag kang matakot sa kanila. Huwag kang matatakot kahit na ang mga sasabihin nila. Mga rebeldeng mamamayan lang sila. 7 Dapat mong sabihin sa kanila ang ipinasasabi ko sa iyo, makinig man ang mga rebeldeng ito o hindi.
8 “Pero ikaw, anak ng tao, pakinggan mo ang sinasabi ko sa iyo. Huwag kang magiging rebelde tulad nila. Ibuka mo ang bibig mo at kainin ang ibibigay ko sa iyo.” 9 At nakita ko ang isang kamay na nag-aabot sa akin ng isang nakarolyong kasulatan. 10 Iniladlad niya ito sa harap ko at may mga salitang nakasulat sa harap at sa likod nito. Ang nakasulat ay malulungkot na mensahe, mga panaghoy at pagdadalamhati.

2 And he said to me: “Stand up, son of dust,[a] and I will talk to you.”
2 And the Spirit entered into me as he spoke, and set me on my feet.
3 “Son of dust,” he said, “I am sending you to the nation of Israel, to a nation rebelling against me. They and their fathers have kept on sinning against me until this very hour. 4 For they are a hard-hearted, stiff-necked people. But I am sending you to give them my messages—the messages of the Lord God. 5 And whether they listen or not (for remember, they are rebels), they will at least know they have had a prophet among them.
6 “Son of dust, don’t be afraid of them; don’t be frightened even though their threats are sharp and barbed and sting like scorpions. Don’t be dismayed by their dark scowls. For remember, they are rebels! 7 You must give them my messages whether they listen or not (but they won’t,[b] for they are utter rebels). 8 Listen, son of dust, to what I say to you. Don’t you be a rebel too! Open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
9-10 Then I looked and saw a hand holding out to me a scroll, with writing on both sides. He unrolled it, and I saw that it was full of warnings and sorrows and pronouncements of doom.

- Ezekiel 2:1 son of dust, or “son of man,” appears eighty-seven times throughout the book of Ezekiel. The connotation is “mortal man.” In Daniel 7:13, the corresponding Aramaic expression is used for the Messiah as representative of the human race of which he is the head.

2 La voz me dijo:
«Hijo de hombre, ponte sobre tus pies, que voy a hablar contigo.»
2 Tan pronto como me habló, el espíritu entró en mí y me hizo ponerme sobre mis pies, y oí que el que me hablaba 3 me decía:
«Hijo de hombre, voy a enviarte a los hijos de Israel, un pueblo rebelde. Hasta el día de hoy, tanto ellos como sus padres se han rebelado contra mí. 4 Así que yo te envío a gente de rostro adusto y de corazón empedernido. Y les dirás: “Así ha dicho Dios el Señor.” 5 Tal vez te harán caso. Pero si no lo hacen así, porque son gente rebelde, siempre sabrán que entre ellos hubo un profeta. 6 Pero tú, hijo de hombre, no tengas miedo de ellos ni de sus palabras. Aunque estés entre zarzas y espinos, y habites entre escorpiones, no tengas miedo de ellos ni de sus palabras, porque son gente rebelde. 7 Ya sea que te escuchen o no, porque son muy rebeldes, tú repíteles mis palabras. 8 Y tú, hijo de hombre, escucha bien lo que te digo, y no seas rebelde como esa gente. Abre la boca, y come lo que voy a darte a comer.»
9 Yo miré, y vi que una mano se extendía hacia mí, y que en ella había un pergamino. 10 La mano lo extendió delante de mí, y vi que el pergamino tenía endechas, lamentaciones y ayes escritos por los dos lados.(A)

Ezekiel’s Call to Be a Prophet
2 He said to me, “Son of man,[a](A) stand(B) up on your feet and I will speak to you.(C)” 2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me(D) to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.
3 He said: “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have been in revolt against me to this very day.(E) 4 The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn.(F) Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’(G) 5 And whether they listen or fail to listen(H)—for they are a rebellious people(I)—they will know that a prophet has been among them.(J) 6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid(K) of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns(L) are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.(M) 7 You must speak(N) my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.(O) 8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel(P) like that rebellious people;(Q) open your mouth and eat(R) what I give you.”
9 Then I looked, and I saw a hand(S) stretched out to me. In it was a scroll,(T) 10 which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.(U)

- Ezekiel 2:1 The Hebrew phrase ben adam means human being. The phrase son of man is retained as a form of address here and throughout Ezekiel because of its possible association with “Son of Man” in the New Testament.
