    and made him a young lion.
He went up and down among the lions.

He learned to catch the prey.
    He devoured men.
He knew their palaces,

The land was desolate,
    with its fullness,
    because of the noise of his roaring.
Then the nations attacked him on every side from the provinces.
    They spread their net over him.
    He was taken in their pit.
They put him in a cage with hooks,
    and brought him to the king of Babylon.
They brought him into strongholds,
    so that his voice should no more be heard on the mountains of Israel.

and he learned to catch prey;

And he ravaged their strongholds[a]
    and laid waste their towns;
the land was appalled, and all in it,
    at the sound of his roaring.(C)
The nations set upon him
    from the provinces all around;
they spread their net over him;
    he was caught in their pit.(D)
With hooks they put him in a neck collar
    and brought him to the king of Babylon;
    they brought him into custody,
so that his voice should be heard no more
    on the mountains of Israel.(E)
