Ezekiel 19:10-14
New American Standard Bible
10 Your mother was (A)like a vine in your [a]vineyard,
Planted by the waters;
It was fruitful and thick with branches
Because of abundant waters.
11 And it had [b](B)strong stems fit for scepters of rulers,
And its (C)height was raised above the clouds
So that it was seen in its height with the mass of its branches.
12 But it was (D)uprooted in fury;
It was (E)thrown down to the ground;
And the (F)east wind dried up its fruit.
[c]Its (G)strong stem [d]was torn out
So that [e]it withered;
The fire consumed it.
13 And now it is planted in the (H)wilderness,
In a dry and thirsty land.
14 And (I)fire has gone out from its stem;
It has consumed its shoots and fruit,
So that there is no [f]strong stem in it,
A scepter to rule.’”
This is a song of mourning, and has become a song of mourning.

10 “‘Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard,[a] planted by water.
It was fruitful and full of branches because it was well-watered.
11 Its boughs were strong, fit[b] for rulers’ scepters; it reached up into the clouds.
It stood out because of its height and its many branches.[c]
12 But it was plucked up in anger; it was thrown down to the ground.
The east wind[d] dried up its fruit;
its strong branches broke off and withered—
a fire consumed them.
13 Now it is planted in the wilderness,
in a dry and thirsty land.[e]
14 A fire has gone out from its branch; it has consumed its shoot and its fruit.[f]
No strong branch was left in it, nor a scepter to rule.’
“This is a lament song, and has become a lament song.”
