17 “Now as for you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who are (A)prophesying (B)from their own heart. Prophesy against them 18 and say, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Woe to the women who sew magic bands on [a]all wrists and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature to (C)hunt down [b]souls! Will you hunt down My people’s souls, but preserve your own souls? 19 (D)For handfuls of barley and fragments of bread, you have profaned Me to My people to put to death souls who should not die and to (E)keep other souls alive who should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies.”’”

20 Therefore, thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I am against your magic bands by which you hunt souls there as [c]birds, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let their souls go, the very souls whom you hunt as [d]birds. 21 I will also tear off your veils and (F)deliver My people from your hands, and they will no longer be in your hands to be hunted; and you will know that I am Yahweh. 22 Because you (G)disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause him grief, but have (H)strengthened the hands of the wicked not to (I)turn from his evil way and preserve his life, 23 therefore, you women will no longer see (J)worthless visions or practice divination, and I will (K)deliver My people out of your hand. Thus you will (L)know that I am Yahweh.”

17 “Now, son of man, set your face(A) against the daughters(B) of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own? 19 You have profaned(D) me among my people for a few handfuls of barley and scraps of bread.(E) By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live.(F)

20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds.(G) 21 I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(H) 22 Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies,(I) when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives,(J) 23 therefore you will no longer see false visions(K) or practice divination.(L) I will save(M) my people from your hands. And then you will know that I am the Lord.(N)’”
