⁴ Then I looked, and behold, ^(A)a whirlwind was coming ^(B)out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. ^5 (C)Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And ^(D)this was their appearance: they had ^(E)the likeness of a man. ⁶ Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings. ⁷ Their ^[a]legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet. They sparkled ^(F)like the color of burnished bronze. ^8 (G)The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings. ⁹ Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight ^(H)forward.

¹⁰ As for ^(I)the likeness of their faces, each ^(J)had the face of a man; each of the four had ^(K)the face of a lion on the right side, ^(L)each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, ^(M)and each of the four had the face of an eagle. ¹¹ Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and ^(N)two covered their bodies. ¹² And ^(O)each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went.

¹³ As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, ^(P)like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning. ¹⁴ And the living creatures ran back and forth, ^(Q)in appearance like a flash of lightning.

¹⁵ Now as I looked at the living creatures, behold, ^(R)a wheel was on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces. ^16 (S)The appearance of the wheels and their workings was ^(T)like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel. ¹⁷ When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went. ¹⁸ As for their rims, they were so high they were awesome; and their rims were ^(U)full of eyes, all around the four of them. ^19 (V)When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. ²⁰ Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, ^(W)for the spirit of the ^[b]living creatures was in the wheels. ²¹ When those went, these went; when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up together with them, for the spirit of the ^[c]living creatures was in the wheels.

^22 (X)The likeness of the ^[d]firmament above the heads of the ^[e]living creatures was like the color of an awesome ^(Y)crystal, stretched out ^(Z)over their heads. ²³ And under the firmament their wings spread out straight, one toward another. Each one had two which covered one side, and each one had two which covered the other side of the body. ^24 (AA)When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, ^(AB)like the noise of many waters, like ^(AC)the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings. ²⁵ A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.

^26 (AD)And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, ^(AE)in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above ^(AF)it. ²⁷ Also from the appearance of His waist and upward ^(AG)I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. ^28 (AH)Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. ^(AI)This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.

6 In the year that ^(B)King Uzziah died, I ^(C)saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. ² Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, ^(D)with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. ³ And one cried to another and said:

⁴ And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

⁵ So I said:

⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from ^(H)the altar. ⁷ And he ^(I)touched my mouth with it, and said:

⁸ Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

⁹ And He said, “Go, and ^(K)tell this people:

The Throne Room of Heaven^(A)

4 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing ^(B)open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a ^(C)trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

² Immediately ^(D)I was in the Spirit; and behold, ^(E)a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. ^3 [a]And He who sat there was ^(F)like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; ^(G)and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. ^4 (H)Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, ^(I)clothed in white ^[b]robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. ⁵ And from the throne proceeded ^(J)lightnings, ^[c]thunderings, and voices. ^(K)Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are ^(L)the^[d] seven Spirits of God.

⁶ Before the throne there ^[e]was ^(M)a sea of glass, like crystal. ^(N)And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. ^7 (O)The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. ⁸ The four living creatures, each having ^(P)six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

⁹ Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, ^(T)who lives forever and ever, ^10 (U)the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
