4 Then you are to take a few strands, throw them in the fire, and incinerate them. A fire will proceed to the house of Israel from there.”

5 “This is what the Lord God says, ‘This is Jerusalem. I placed her in the center of nations, with many[a] nations surrounding her. 6 But she rebelled against my ordinances and my statutes. She practiced more evil than all the nations and territories around her. They rejected my ordinances and didn’t live by[b] my statutes.’

4 Again, take a few of these and throw them into the fire(A) and burn them up. A fire will spread from there to all Israel.
5 “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: This is Jerusalem, which I have set in the center of the nations, with countries all around her.(B) 6 Yet in her wickedness she has rebelled against my laws and decrees more than the nations and countries around her. She has rejected my laws and has not followed my decrees.(C)
