15 He measured the length of the (A)building [a]along the front of the (B)separate area behind it, with a [b](C)gallery on each side, one hundred cubits, along with the inner nave and the porches of the court.

Carvings and Furnishings

16 The (D)thresholds, the [c](E)latticed windows, and the [d](F)galleries round about their (G)three stories, opposite the threshold, were (H)paneled with wood all around, and from the ground to the windows (but the windows were covered), 17 over the entrance, and to the inner house, and on the outside, and on all the wall all around inside and outside, by measurement. 18 It was [e]carved with (I)cherubim and (J)palm trees; and a palm tree was between cherub and cherub, and every cherub had two faces, 19 a (K)man’s face toward the palm tree on one side and a young (L)lion’s face toward the palm tree on the other side; they were [f]carved on all the house all around. 20 From the ground to above the entrance (M)cherubim and (N)palm trees were [g]carved, as well as on the wall of the nave.

21 The (O)doorposts of the (P)nave were square; as for the front of the sanctuary, the appearance of one doorpost was like that of the other. 22 The (Q)altar was of wood, three cubits high and its length two cubits; its corners, its [h]base, and its [i]sides were of wood. And he said to me, “This is the (R)table that is before Yahweh.” 23 The (S)nave and the (T)sanctuary each had a double (U)door. 24 Each of the doors had two leaves, two [j](V)swinging leaves; two leaves for one door and two leaves for the other. 25 Also there were [k]carved on them, on the doors of the nave, (W)cherubim and (X)palm trees like those [l]carved on the walls; and there was a (Y)canopy of wood over the front of the porch outside. 26 There were [m](Z)latticed windows and (AA)palm trees on one side and on the other, on the sides of the (AB)porch; thus were the (AC)side chambers of the house and the canopies.

15 Next he measured the length of the building facing the temple yard to the west, with its galleries[a] on each side;(A) it was 175 feet.

Interior Wooden Structures

The interior of the great hall and the porticoes of the court— 16 the thresholds, the beveled windows,(B) and the balconies all around with their three levels opposite the threshold—were overlaid with wood on all sides.(C) They were paneled from the ground to the windows (but the windows were covered), 17 reaching to the top of the entrance, and as far as the inner temple and on the outside. On every wall all around, on the inside and outside, was a pattern 18 carved with cherubim and palm trees.(D) There was a palm tree between each pair of cherubim.(E) Each cherub had two faces: 19 a human face turned toward the palm tree on one side,(F) and a lion’s face turned toward it on the other. They were carved throughout the temple on all sides. 20 Cherubim and palm trees were carved from the ground to the top of the entrance and on the wall of the great hall.

21 The doorposts of the great hall were square,(G) and the front of the sanctuary had the same appearance. 22 The altar was[b] made of wood, 5¼ feet[c] high and 3½ feet long.[d] It had corners, and its length[e] and sides were of wood.(H) The man told me, “This is the table that stands before the Lord.”(I)

23 The great hall and the sanctuary each had a double door,(J) 24 and each of the doors had two swinging panels.(K) There were two panels for one door and two for the other. 25 Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the doors of the great hall like those carved on the walls. There was a wooden canopy[f](L) outside, in front of the portico. 26 There were beveled windows and palm trees on both sides,(M) on the side walls of the portico, the side rooms of the temple, and the canopies.[g]

15 Then he measured the length of the building facing the courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its galleries(A) on each side; it was a hundred cubits.

The main hall, the inner sanctuary and the portico facing the court, 16 as well as the thresholds and the narrow windows(B) and galleries around the three of them—everything beyond and including the threshold was covered with wood. The floor, the wall up to the windows, and the windows were covered.(C) 17 In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary and on the walls at regular intervals all around the inner and outer sanctuary 18 were carved(D) cherubim(E) and palm trees.(F) Palm trees alternated with cherubim. Each cherub had two faces:(G) 19 the face of a human being toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the whole temple.(H) 20 From the floor to the area above the entrance, cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the main hall.

21 The main hall(I) had a rectangular doorframe, and the one at the front of the Most Holy Place was similar. 22 There was a wooden altar(J) three cubits[a] high and two cubits square[b]; its corners, its base[c] and its sides were of wood. The man said to me, “This is the table(K) that is before the Lord.” 23 Both the main hall(L) and the Most Holy Place had double doors.(M) 24 Each door had two leaves—two hinged leaves(N) for each door. 25 And on the doors of the main hall were carved cherubim and palm trees like those carved on the walls, and there was a wooden overhang on the front of the portico. 26 On the sidewalls of the portico were narrow windows with palm trees carved on each side. The side rooms of the temple also had overhangs.(O)
