Prophecy Against Mount Seir
35 Moreover, the word of Yahweh came to me saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against (A)Mount Seir and prophesy against it 3 and say to it, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh,
“Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir,
And I will (B)stretch out My hand against you
And make you a (C)desolation and a desecration.
4 I will (D)lay waste your cities,
And you will become a desolation.
Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
5 Because you have had everlasting (E)enmity and have [a]delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their disaster, at the time of the [b](F)punishment of the end, 6 therefore as I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “I will [c]prepare you for (G)bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you; you surely have not hated bloodshed, so bloodshed will pursue you. 7 I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation, and I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns. 8 I will (H)fill its mountains with its slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain by the sword will [d]fall. 9 I will make you an everlasting (I)desolation, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
10 “Because you have (J)said, ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess [e]them,’ although (K)Yahweh was there, 11 therefore as I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “I will deal with you (L)according to your anger and according to your jealousy which you dealt with them because of your hatred against them; so I will (M)make Myself known among them when I judge you. 12 Then you will know [f]that I, Yahweh, have heard all your [g]contempt which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel saying, ‘They are laid desolate; they are (N)given to us for food.’ 13 And you have (O)magnified yourselves with your mouth against Me and have multiplied your words against Me; (P)I have heard it.” 14 Thus says Lord Yahweh, “As all the (Q)earth delights, I will make you a desolation. 15 As you (R)delighted over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, (S)so I will do to you. You will be a (T)desolation, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.”’

An Oracle Against Mount Seir
35 The word of the Lord came to me. 2 Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it. 3 Say this to it.
This is what the Lord God says. I am against you, Mount Seir. I will stretch out my hand against you and make you a desolate wasteland. 4 I will make your cities ruins, and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
5 Because you cherished an ancient hatred and turned the Israelites over to the sword at the time of their disaster, at the time of their final punishment, 6 therefore, as I live, declares the Lord God, I will subject you to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Because you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you. 7 I will make Mount Seir a desolate wasteland and cut off from it all those who flee from it and want to return.[a] 8 I will fill its mountains with its slain. On your hills and in your valleys and in all your streambeds, those who have been run through by the sword will fall. 9 I will make you desolate forever, and your cities will not be re-inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
10 Because you said, “These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them, even though the Lord was there,” 11 therefore, as I live, declares the Lord God, I will treat you as you deserve for your anger and for your jealousy which you held against these two nations in your hostility, and I will make myself known among them when I judge you. 12 Then you will know that I, the Lord, have heard all the contemptuous statements that you uttered against the mountains of Israel: “They have been devastated and given to us for food.” 13 With your mouth you made proud boasts against me and heaped up arrogant words against me. I have heard it myself. 14 This is what the Lord God says. While the whole world celebrates, I will make you a desolation. 15 Because you celebrated when you took possession of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so will I deal with you. Mount Seir, you will be desolate, along with all of Edom. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
