5 Because (A)you cherished perpetual enmity and gave over the people of Israel to the power of the sword (B)at the time of their calamity, (C)at the time of their final punishment, 6 therefore, (D)as I live, declares the Lord God, I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; (E)because you did not hate bloodshed, therefore blood shall pursue you. 7 (F)I will make Mount Seir a waste (G)and a desolation, and I will cut off from it (H)all who come and go. 8 And I will fill (I)its mountains with the slain. On your hills and in your valleys and in all (J)your ravines (K)those slain with the sword shall fall. 9 (L)I will make you a perpetual desolation, and (M)your cities shall not be inhabited. Then (N)you will know that I am the Lord.

5 “‘Because you harbored an ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites over to the sword(A) at the time of their calamity,(B) the time their punishment reached its climax,(C) 6 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will give you over to bloodshed(D) and it will pursue you.(E) Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you. 7 I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste(F) and cut off from it all who come and go.(G) 8 I will fill your mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines.(H) 9 I will make you desolate forever;(I) your towns will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(J)
