⁶ For behold, I am ^(A)raising up the Chaldeans,
That ^[a]grim and impetuous people
Who march ^[b]throughout the earth,
To ^(B)take possession of dwelling places that are not theirs.
⁷ They are terrifying and ^(C)feared;
Their ^(D)justice and ^[c]authority ^[d]originate with themselves.
⁸ Their ^(E)horses are faster than leopards,
And quicker than ^(F)wolves in the evening.
Their ^[e]horsemen charge along,
Their ^[f]horsemen come from afar;
They fly like an ^(G)eagle ^[g]swooping down to devour.
⁹ All of them come for violence.
^[h]Their horde of ^(H)faces moves forward.
They gather captives like sand.
¹⁰ They ^(I)make fun of kings,
And dignitaries are an object of laughter to them.
They ^(J)laugh at every fortress,
Then ^(K)heap up dirt and ^[i]capture it.
