15 (A) Instead, I told them in the desert that I would not lead them into the beautiful, fertile land I had promised. 16 I said this because they had not only ignored my laws and teachings, but had disgraced my Sabbath and worshiped idols.

15 Also with uplifted hand I swore(A) to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands(B) 16 because they rejected my laws(C) and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts(D) were devoted to their idols.(E) 17 Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy(F) them or put an end to them in the wilderness.
