7 For any one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel, (A)who separates himself from me, taking his idols into his heart and putting the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to a prophet to consult me through him, (B)I the Lord will answer him myself. 8 And (C)I will set my face against that man; I (D)will make him a sign and a byword (E)and cut him off from the midst of my people, (F)and you shall know that I am the Lord. 9 And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, (G)I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

7 “‘When any of the Israelites or any foreigner(A) residing in Israel separate themselves from me and set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block(B) before their faces and then go to a prophet to inquire(C) of me, I the Lord will answer them myself. 8 I will set my face against(D) them and make them an example(E) and a byword.(F) I will remove them from my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(G)
9 “‘And if the prophet(H) is enticed(I) to utter a prophecy, I the Lord have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.(J)
