^21 [a]But as for those whose hearts walk after their ^(A)detestable things and abominations, I will ^(B)give what is due for their way on their heads,” declares Lord Yahweh.

³ “Son of man, these men have ^(A)set up their idols in their hearts and have ^(B)put right before their faces the stumbling block of their iniquity. Should I be ^(C)inquired by them at all? ⁴ Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Any man of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, puts right before his face the stumbling block of his iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I Yahweh will be brought to give him an answer ^[a]in light of it, ^[b]in light of the ^(D)multitude of his idols, ⁵ in order to seize the house of Israel by ^(E)their heart, those who are ^[c](F)estranged from Me through all their idols.”’

⁶ “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “^[d](G)Turn back and turn away from your idols and turn your faces away from all your ^(H)abominations. ⁷ For anyone of the house of Israel or of the ^(I)sojourners who sojourn in Israel who separates himself from Me, sets up his idols in his heart, puts right before his face the stumbling block of his iniquity, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me for himself, ^(J)I, Yahweh, will be brought to answer him in My own person.

⁸ But they ^(A)rebelled against Me and were not willing to listen to Me; each one did not cast away the detestable things of their eyes, nor did they forsake the ^(B)idols of Egypt.

Then I said I would ^(C)pour out My wrath on them, to ^[a]spend My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
