²⁷ The king mourns, the prince is wrapped in despair, and the hands of the people of the land are paralyzed by terror. According to their way ^(A)I will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them, ^(B)and they shall know that I am the Lord.”

³⁰ “Therefore ^(A)I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. ^(B)Repent and turn from all your transgressions, ^(C)lest iniquity be your ruin.^[a]

^4 (A)And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity, but ^(B)I will punish you for your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. ^(C)Then you will know that I am the Lord.

⁵ “Thus says the Lord God: Disaster ^(D)after disaster!^[a] Behold, it comes. ^6 (E)An end has come; the end has come; it has awakened against you. Behold, it comes. ^7 (F)Your doom^[b] has come to you, O inhabitant of the land. ^(G)The time has come; the day is near, a day of tumult, and not ^(H)of joyful shouting on the mountains. ⁸ Now I will soon ^(I)pour out my wrath upon you, and ^(J)spend my anger against you, ^(K)and judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations.

¹³ For ^(A)judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

⁵ But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are ^(A)storing up ^(B)wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.

^6 (C)He will render to each one according to his works: ⁷ to those who ^(D)by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; ⁸ but for those who are self-seeking^[a] and ^(E)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. ⁹ There will be tribulation and distress ^(F)for every human being who does evil, the Jew ^(G)first and also the Greek, ¹⁰ but glory and honor and ^(H)peace for everyone who does good, ^(I)the Jew first and also the Greek.

^2 (A)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and ^(B)with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

The Glorious Future of Judah

¹⁶ Then all ^(A)the princes of the sea will step down from their thrones and ^(B)remove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; ^(C)they will sit on the ground and ^(D)tremble every moment and ^(E)be appalled at you.

²⁵ And you, O profane^{[a] (A)}wicked one, prince of Israel, ^(B)whose day has come, ^(C)the time of your final punishment,
