¹⁴ “‘They have blown the trumpet,^(A)
    they have made all things ready,
but no one will go into battle,
    for my wrath^(B) is on the whole crowd.

¹¹ Violence^(A) has arisen,^[a]
    a rod to punish the wicked.
None of the people will be left,
    none of that crowd—
none of their wealth,
    nothing of value.^(B)
12 The time has come!
    The day has arrived!
Let not the buyer^(C) rejoice
    nor the seller grieve,
    for my wrath is on the whole crowd.^(D)

²⁷ “Lift up a banner^(A) in the land!
    Blow the trumpet among the nations!
Prepare the nations for battle against her;
    summon against her these kingdoms:^(B)
    Ararat,^(C) Minni and Ashkenaz.^(D)
Appoint a commander against her;
    send up horses like a swarm of locusts.^(E)

¹² Over all the barren heights in the desert
    destroyers will swarm,
for the sword^(A) of the Lord^(B) will devour^(C)
    from one end of the land to the other;^(D)
    no one will be safe.^(E)

¹¹ But I am full of the wrath^(A) of the Lord,
    and I cannot hold it in.^(B)

“Pour it out on the children in the street
    and on the young men^(C) gathered together;
both husband and wife will be caught in it,
    and the old, those weighed down with years.^(D)

⁴ The earth dries up^(J) and withers,^(K)
    the world languishes and withers,
    the heavens^(L) languish with the earth.^(M)
5 The earth is defiled^(N) by its people;
    they have disobeyed^(O) the laws,
violated the statutes
    and broken the everlasting covenant.^(P)
6 Therefore a curse^(Q) consumes the earth;
    its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,^(R)
    and very few are left.
⁷ The new wine dries up^(S) and the vine withers;^(T)
    all the merrymakers groan.^(U)
