¹¹ ‘Thus says the Lord God: ^(A)“Pound^[a] your fists and stamp your feet, and say, ‘Alas, for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! ^(B)For they shall fall by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.

Fourth Seal: Widespread Death on Earth

⁷ When He opened the fourth seal, ^(A)I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.”

^8 (A)So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And ^[a]power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, ^(B)to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, ^(C)and by the beasts of the earth.

¹⁶ Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and ^(A)will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven saying, ^(A)“Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. ^5 (B)For her sins ^[a]have reached to heaven, and ^(C)God has remembered her iniquities. ^6 (D)Render to her just as she rendered ^[b]to you, and repay her double according to her works; ^(E)in the cup which she has mixed, ^(F)mix double for her. ^7 (G)In the measure that she glorified herself and lived ^[c]luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as ^(H)queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ ⁸ Therefore her plagues will come ^(I)in one day—death and mourning and famine. And ^(J)she will be utterly burned with fire, ^(K)for strong is the Lord God who ^[d]judges her.
