¹⁵ You will be a reproach^(A) and a taunt, a warning^(B) and an object of horror to the nations around you when I inflict punishment on you in anger and in wrath and with stinging rebuke.^(C) I the Lord have spoken.^(D)

¹⁷ I will carry out great vengeance^(A) on them and punish^(B) them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the Lord,^(C) when I take vengeance on them.^(D)’”

⁸ “People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’^{(A) 9} And the answer will be: ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and have worshiped and served other gods.^(B)’”

¹¹ These things happened to them as examples^(A) and were written down as warnings for us,^(B) on whom the culmination of the ages has come.^(C)
