¹⁸ “On the east side you shall mark out the border from between Hauran and Damascus, and between Gilead and the land of Israel, along the Jordan, and along the eastern side of the sea. This is the east side.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all ^(A)the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord ^(B)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) ^(C)like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go toward ^(D)Zoar.

⁸ From that year they ^[a]harassed and oppressed the children of Israel for eighteen years—all the children of Israel who were on the other side of the Jordan in the ^(A)land of the Amorites, in Gilead.

The Tribes Settling East of the Jordan^(A)

32 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock; and when they saw the land of ^(B)Jazer and the land of ^(C)Gilead, that indeed the region was a place for livestock,

⁴⁷ Laban called it ^[a]Jegar Sahadutha, but Jacob called it ^[b]Galeed.

²³ Then he took ^(A)his brethren with him and pursued him for seven days’ journey, and he overtook him in the mountains of Gilead.
