¹¹ “At the festivals and the appointed seasons the grain offering with a bull shall be an ephah and with a ram an ephah and with the lambs as much as one wishes to give, together with a hin of oil to an ephah.^(A)

⁵ and the grain offering with the ram shall be an ephah, and the grain offering with the lambs shall be as much as he wishes to give, together with a hin of oil to each ephah.^(A)

The Passover Reviewed

16 “Observe the month^[a] of Abib by keeping the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.^{(A) 2} You shall offer the Passover sacrifice to the Lord your God from the flock and the herd, at the place that the Lord will choose as a dwelling for his name.^{(B) 3} You must not eat with it anything leavened. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it—the bread of affliction—because you came out of the land of Egypt in great haste, so that all the days of your life you may remember the day of your departure from the land of Egypt.^{(C) 4} No leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, and none of the meat of what you slaughter on the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.^{(D) 5} You are not permitted to offer the Passover sacrifice within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you. ⁶ But at the place that the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his name, only there shall you offer the Passover sacrifice, in the evening at sunset, the time of day when you departed from Egypt.^{(E) 7} You shall cook it and eat it at the place that the Lord your God will choose; the next morning you may go back to your tents.^{(F) 8} For six days you shall continue to eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly for the Lord your God, when you shall do no work.^(G)

The Festival of Weeks Reviewed

⁹ “You shall count seven weeks; begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing grain.^{(H) 10} Then you shall keep the Festival of Weeks to the Lord your God, contributing a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing that you have received from the Lord your God. ¹¹ Rejoice before the Lord your God—you and your sons and your daughters, your male and female slaves, the Levites resident in your towns, as well as the strangers, the orphans, and the widows who are among you—at the place that the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his name.^{(I) 12} Remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and diligently observe these statutes.^(J)

The Festival of Booths Reviewed

¹³ “You shall keep the Festival of Booths^[b] for seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress.^{(K) 14} Rejoice during your festival, you and your sons and your daughters, your male and female slaves, as well as the Levites, the strangers, the orphans, and the widows resident in your towns.^{(L) 15} Seven days you shall keep the festival to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, for the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all your undertakings, and you shall surely celebrate.^(M)

¹⁶ “Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, at the Festival of Weeks, and at the Festival of Booths.^[c] They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed;^{(N) 17} all shall give as they are able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

Municipal Judges and Officers

¹⁸ “You shall appoint judges and officials throughout your tribes, in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall render just decisions for the people.^{(O) 19} You must not distort justice; you must not show partiality; and you must not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.^{(P) 20} Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue, so that you may live and occupy the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Forbidden Forms of Worship

²¹ “You shall not plant any tree as a sacred pole^[d] beside the altar that you make for the Lord your God,^{(Q) 22} nor shall you set up a stone pillar—things that the Lord your God hates.

Daily Offerings

28 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ² “Command the Israelites, and say to them: My offering, the food for my offerings by fire,^[a] my pleasing odor, you shall take care to offer to me at its appointed time.^{(A) 3} And you shall say to them: This is the offering by fire^[b] that you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs a year old without blemish, daily, as a regular offering.^{(B) 4} One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;^{[c] 5} also one-tenth of an ephah of choice flour for a grain offering, mixed with one-fourth of a hin of beaten oil. ⁶ It is a regular burnt offering, ordained at Mount Sinai for a pleasing odor, an offering by fire^[d] to the Lord. ⁷ Its drink offering shall be one-fourth of a hin for each lamb; in the sanctuary you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the Lord.^{(C) 8} The other lamb you shall offer at twilight^[e] with a grain offering and a drink offering like the one in the morning; you shall offer it as an offering by fire,^[f] a pleasing odor to the Lord.

Sabbath Offerings

⁹ “On the Sabbath day: two male lambs a year old without blemish and two-tenths of an ephah of choice flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, and its drink offering— ¹⁰ this is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.^(D)

Monthly Offerings

¹¹ “At the beginnings of your months you shall offer a burnt offering to the Lord: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish;^{(E) 12} also three-tenths of an ephah of choice flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, for each bull; and two-tenths of choice flour for a grain offering, mixed with oil, for the one ram;^{(F) 13} and one-tenth of choice flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for each lamb—a burnt offering of pleasing odor, an offering by fire^[g] to the Lord. ¹⁴ Their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull, one-third of a hin for a ram, and one-fourth of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year. ¹⁵ And there shall be one male goat for a purification offering to the Lord; it shall be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.^(G)

Offerings at Passover

¹⁶ “On the fourteenth day of the first month there shall be a Passover offering to the Lord.^{(H) 17} And on the fifteenth day of this month is a festival; seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.^{(I) 18} On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall not work at your occupations.^{(J) 19} You shall offer an offering by fire,^[h] a burnt offering to the Lord: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old; see that they are without blemish. ²⁰ Their grain offering shall be of choice flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah shall you offer for a bull and two-tenths for a ram; ²¹ one-tenth shall you offer for each of the seven lambs; ²² also one male goat for a purification offering, to make atonement for you. ²³ You shall offer these in addition to the burnt offering of the morning, which belongs to the regular burnt offering.^{(K) 24} In the same way you shall offer daily, for seven days, the food of an offering by fire,^[i] a pleasing odor to the Lord; it shall be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering. ²⁵ And on the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not work at your occupations.^(L)

Offerings at the Festival of Weeks

²⁶ “On the day of the first fruits, when you offer a grain offering of new grain to the Lord at your Festival of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not work at your occupations.^{(M) 27} You shall offer a burnt offering, a pleasing odor to the Lord: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old. ²⁸ Their grain offering shall be of choice flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for each bull, two-tenths for the one ram, ²⁹ one-tenth for each of the seven lambs,

Various Offerings

15 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ² “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving you,^{(A) 3} and you make an offering by fire^[a] to the Lord from the herd or from the flock—whether a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or at your appointed festivals—to make a pleasing odor for the Lord,^{(B) 4} then whoever presents such an offering to the Lord shall present also a grain offering, one-tenth of an ephah of choice flour, mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil.^{(C) 5} Moreover, you shall offer one-fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering with the burnt offering or the sacrifice, for each lamb.^{(D) 6} For a ram, you shall offer a grain offering, two-tenths of an ephah of choice flour mixed with one-third of a hin of oil,^{(E) 7} and as a drink offering you shall offer one-third of a hin of wine, a pleasing odor to the Lord. ⁸ When you offer a bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as an offering of well-being to the Lord,^{(F) 9} then you shall present with the bull a grain offering, three-tenths of an ephah of choice flour, mixed with half a hin of oil,^{(G) 10} and you shall present as a drink offering half a hin of wine, as an offering by fire,^[b] a pleasing odor to the Lord.

¹¹ “Thus it shall be done for each ox or ram or for each of the male lambs or the kids. ¹² According to the number that you offer, so you shall do with each and every one. ¹³ Every native Israelite shall do these things in this way, in presenting an offering by fire,^[c] a pleasing odor to the Lord. ¹⁴ An alien who lives with you or who takes up permanent residence among you and wishes to offer an offering by fire,^[d] a pleasing odor to the Lord, shall do as you do. ¹⁵ As for the assembly, there shall be for both you and the resident alien a single statute, a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you and the alien shall be alike before the Lord.^{(H) 16} You and the alien who resides with you shall have the same law and the same ordinance.”

¹⁷ The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁸ “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: After you come into the land to which I am bringing you,^{(I) 19} whenever you eat of the bread of the land you shall present a donation to the Lord.^{(J) 20} From your first batch of dough you shall present a loaf as a donation; you shall present it just as you present a donation from the threshing floor.^{(K) 21} Throughout your generations you shall give to the Lord a donation from the first of your batch of dough.

²² “But if you unintentionally fail to observe all these commandments that the Lord has spoken to Moses^(L)— ²³ everything that the Lord has commanded you by Moses, from the day the Lord gave commandment and thereafter, throughout your generations— ²⁴ then if it was done unintentionally without the knowledge^[e] of the congregation, the whole congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, a pleasing odor to the Lord, together with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a purification offering.^{(M) 25} The priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the Israelites, and they shall be forgiven; it was unintentional, and they have brought their offering, an offering by fire^[f] to the Lord, and their purification offering before the Lord, for their error.^{(N) 26} All the congregation of the Israelites shall be forgiven, as well as the aliens residing among you, because the whole people was involved in the error.

²⁷ “An individual who sins unintentionally shall present a female goat a year old for a purification offering.^{(O) 28} And the priest shall make atonement before the Lord for the one who commits an error, when it is unintentional, to make atonement for the person, who then shall be forgiven.^{(P) 29} For both the native among the Israelites and the alien residing among you, you shall have the same law for anyone who acts in error.^{(Q) 30} But whoever acts high-handedly, whether native-born or an alien, affronts the Lord and shall be cut off from among the people. ³¹ Because of having despised the word of the Lord and broken his commandment, such a person shall be utterly cut off and bear the guilt.”^(R)

Penalty for Violating the Sabbath

³² When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day.^{(S) 33} Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation. ³⁴ They put him in custody because it was not clear what should be done to him.^{(T) 35} Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him outside the camp.”^{(U) 36} The whole congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Fringes on Garments

³⁷ The Lord said to Moses, ³⁸ “Speak to the Israelites, and tell them to make fringes on the corners of their garments throughout their generations and to put a blue cord on the fringe at each corner.^{(V) 39} You have the fringe so that, when you see it, you will remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them and not follow the lust of your own heart and your own eyes.^{(W) 40} So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and you shall be holy to your God.^{(X) 41} I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”

Appointed Festivals

23 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ² “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: These are the appointed festivals of the Lord that you shall proclaim as holy convocations, my appointed festivals.^(A)

The Sabbath, Passover, and Unleavened Bread

³ “Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work: it is a Sabbath to the Lord throughout your settlements.^(B)

⁴ “These are the appointed festivals of the Lord, the holy convocations, that you shall celebrate at the time appointed for them.^{(C) 5} In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at twilight,^[a] there shall be a Passover offering to the Lord,^{(D) 6} and on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Festival of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. ⁷ On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not work at your occupations.^{(E) 8} For seven days you shall present the Lord’s offerings by fire;^[b] on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation: you shall not work at your occupations.”

The Offering of First Fruits

⁹ The Lord spoke to Moses, ¹⁰ “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land that I am giving you and you reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest.^{(F) 11} He shall raise the sheaf before the Lord, that you may find acceptance; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall raise it. ¹² On the day when you raise the sheaf, you shall offer a lamb a year old, without blemish, as a burnt offering to the Lord. ¹³ And the grain offering with it shall be two-tenths of an ephah of choice flour mixed with oil, an offering by fire^[c] of pleasing odor to the Lord, and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, one-fourth of a hin.^{(G) 14} You shall eat no bread or parched grain or fresh ears until that very day, until you have brought the offering of your God. This is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your settlements.

The Festival of Weeks

¹⁵ “And from the day after the Sabbath, from the day on which you bring the sheaf of the elevation offering, you shall count seven full weeks.^{(H) 16} You shall count until the day after the seventh Sabbath, fifty days; then you shall present an offering of new grain to the Lord.^{(I) 17} You shall bring from your settlements two loaves of bread as an elevation offering, each made of two-tenths of an ephah; they shall be of choice flour, baked with leaven, as first fruits to the Lord.^{(J) 18} You shall present with the bread seven lambs a year old without blemish, one bull of the herd, and two rams; they shall be a burnt offering to the Lord, along with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering by fire^[d] of pleasing odor to the Lord. ¹⁹ You shall also offer one male goat for a purification offering and two lambs a year old as a sacrifice of well-being.^{(K) 20} The priest shall raise them with the bread of the first fruits as an elevation offering before the Lord, together with the two lambs; they shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. ²¹ On that same day you shall make proclamation; you shall hold a holy convocation; you shall not work at your occupations. This is a statute forever in all your settlements throughout your generations.^(L)

²² “When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest; you shall leave them for the poor and for the alien: I am the Lord your God.”^(M)

The Festival of Trumpets

²³ The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁴ “Speak to the Israelites, saying: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of complete rest, a holy convocation commemorated with trumpet blasts.^{(N) 25} You shall not work at your occupations, and you shall present the Lord’s offering by fire.”^[e]

The Day of Atonement

²⁶ The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁷ “Now, the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you: you shall humble yourselves^[f] and present the Lord’s offering by fire,^{[g](O) 28} and you shall do no work during that entire day, for it is a Day of Atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God. ²⁹ For those who do not humble themselves^[h] during that entire day shall be cut off from the people.^{(P) 30} And anyone who does any work during that entire day, such a one I will destroy from the midst of the people.^{(Q) 31} You shall do no work. This is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your settlements. ³² It shall be to you a Sabbath of complete rest, and you shall humble yourselves;^[i] on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening you shall keep your Sabbath.”

The Festival of Booths

³³ The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ³⁴ “Speak to the Israelites, saying: On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and lasting seven days, there shall be the Festival of Booths^[j] to the Lord.^{(R) 35} The first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not work at your occupations. ³⁶ Seven days you shall present the Lord’s offerings by fire;^[k] on the eighth day you shall observe a holy convocation and present the Lord’s offerings by fire;^[l] it is a solemn assembly; you shall not work at your occupations.^(S)

³⁷ “These are the appointed festivals of the Lord that you shall celebrate as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the Lord offerings by fire^[m]—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day^(T)— ³⁸ apart from the Sabbaths of the Lord and apart from your gifts and apart from all your votive offerings and apart from all your freewill offerings that you give to the Lord.

³⁹ “Now, the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce of the land, you shall keep the festival of the Lord, lasting seven days, a complete rest on the first day and a complete rest on the eighth day.^{(U) 40} On the first day you shall take the fruit of majestic^[n] trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.^{(V) 41} You shall keep it as a festival to the Lord lasting seven days in the year; you shall keep it in the seventh month as a statute forever throughout your generations. ⁴² You shall live in booths for seven days; all who are native-born in Israel shall live in booths,^{(W) 43} so that your generations may know that I made the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

⁴⁴ Thus Moses declared to the Israelites the appointed festivals of the Lord.^(X)
