²⁰ And so you shall do on the seventh day of the month ^(A)for everyone who has sinned unintentionally or in ignorance. Thus you shall make atonement for the temple.

Keeping the Feasts^(A)

¹⁸ ‘Thus says the Lord God: “In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall take a young bull without blemish and ^(B)cleanse the sanctuary.

¹⁵ And one lamb shall be given from a flock of two hundred, from the rich pastures of Israel. These shall be for grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, ^(A)to make atonement for them,” says the Lord God.

²⁰ “And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat.

^27 (A)‘If ^[a]anyone of the ^[b]common people sins unintentionally by doing something against any of the commandments of the Lord in anything which ought not to be done, and is guilty, ²⁸ or ^(B)if his sin which he has committed comes to his knowledge, then he shall bring as his offering a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he has committed. ^29 (C)And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and kill the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering. ³⁰ Then the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour all the remaining blood at the base of the altar. ^31 (D)He shall remove all its fat, ^(E)as fat is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offering; and the priest shall burn it on the altar for a ^(F)sweet aroma to the Lord. ^(G)So the priest shall make atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.

³² ‘If he brings a lamb as his sin offering, ^(H)he shall bring a female without blemish. ³³ Then he shall ^(I)lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and kill it as a sin offering at the place where they kill the burnt offering. ³⁴ The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour all the remaining blood at the base of the altar. ³⁵ He shall remove all its fat, as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offering. Then the priest shall burn it on the altar, ^(J)according to the offerings made by fire to the Lord. ^(K)So the priest shall make atonement for his sin that he has committed, and it shall be forgiven him.

² He can ^[a]have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to ^(A)weakness.

¹⁸ For those who are such do not serve our Lord ^[a]Jesus Christ, but ^(A)their own belly, and ^(B)by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. ¹⁹ For ^(C)your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be ^(D)wise in what is good, and ^[b]simple concerning evil.
