¹⁹ The priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the upper ledge^(A) of the altar^(B) and on the gateposts of the inner court.

²⁰ You are to take some of its blood and put it on the four horns of the altar^(A) and on the four corners of the upper ledge^(B) and all around the rim, and so purify the altar^(C) and make atonement for it.

¹⁴ From the gutter on the ground up to the lower ledge that goes around the altar it is two cubits high, and the ledge is a cubit wide.^[a] From this lower ledge to the upper ledge that goes around the altar it is four cubits high, and that ledge is also a cubit wide.^[b]

¹⁸ “Then he shall come out to the altar^(A) that is before the Lord and make atonement for it. He shall take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on all the horns of the altar.^{(B) 19} He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and to consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.^(C)

²⁰ “When Aaron has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall bring forward the live goat.^(D)

¹⁷ The upper ledge^(A) also is square, fourteen cubits^[a] long and fourteen cubits wide. All around the altar is a gutter of one cubit with a rim of half a cubit.^[b] The steps^(B) of the altar face east.^(C)”
