¹⁸ They shall have linen turbans on their heads, and linen undergarments around their waists. They shall not bind themselves with anything that causes sweat.

^40 (A)But all things should be done decently and ^(B)in order.

⁴ Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, ⁵ but every wife^[a] who prays or ^(A)prophesies ^(B)with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same ^(C)as if her head were shaven. ⁶ For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head. ⁷ For a man ought not to cover his head, since ^(D)he is the image and glory of God, but ^(E)woman is the glory of man. ⁸ For ^(F)man was not made from woman, but woman from man. ⁹ Neither was man created for woman, but ^(G)woman for man. ¹⁰ That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.^[b]

²⁰ the ^(A)headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets;

⁴ He shall put on ^(A)the holy linen coat and shall have the linen undergarment on his body, and he shall tie the linen sash around his waist, and wear the linen turban; these are the holy garments. ^(B)He shall bathe his body in water and then put them on.

²⁸ and the ^(A)turban of fine linen, and the caps of fine linen, and the linen undergarments of fine twined linen,

^40 (A)“For Aaron's sons you shall make coats and sashes and caps. You shall make them ^(B)for glory and beauty. ⁴¹ And you shall put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and shall ^(C)anoint them and ordain them and ^(D)consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. ⁴² You shall make for them ^(E)linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh. They shall reach from the hips to the thighs; ⁴³ and they shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they go into the tent of meeting or when they come near the altar to minister in the Holy Place, lest they ^(F)bear guilt and die. ^(G)This shall be a statute forever for him and for his offspring after him.
