¹⁰ But the Levites who went far from me, going astray from me after their idols when Israel went astray, shall bear their punishment.^(A)

¹¹ As for the consecrated priests, the descendants^[a] of Zadok who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, as the Levites did,^(A)

²⁶ Its priests have done violence to my teaching and have profaned my holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have disregarded my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.^(A)

²² Do not ordain^[a] anyone hastily, and do not participate in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.^(A)

The Levitical Priests

¹⁵ “But the Levitical priests, the descendants of Zadok, who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me to minister to me, and they shall attend me to offer me the fat and the blood, says the Lord God.^(A)

⁸ He brought all the priests out of the towns of Judah and defiled the high places where the priests had made offerings, from Geba to Beer-sheba; he broke down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on the left at the gate of the city.^{(A) 9} The priests of the high places, however, did not come up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem but ate unleavened bread among their kindred.^(B)
