¹⁸ Then he said to me: “Mortal, thus says the Lord God: These are the ordinances for the altar: On the day when it is erected for offering burnt offerings upon it and for dashing blood against it,^(A)

²⁹ He set the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting and offered on it the burnt offering and the grain offering as the Lord had commanded Moses.

²⁴ and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.^(A)

⁴ For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.^{(A) 5} Consequently, when Christ^[a] came into the world, he said,

⁸ When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), ⁹ then he added, “See, I have come to do your will.” He abolishes the first in order to establish the second. ¹⁰ And it is by God’s will^[c] that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.^(D)

¹¹ And every priest stands day after day at his service, offering again and again the same sacrifices that can never take away sins.^{(E) 12} But when Christ^[d] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, “he sat down at the right hand of God,”

²¹ And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent^[a] and all the vessels used in worship.^{(A) 22} Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.^(B)

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls and the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer sanctifies those who have been defiled so that their flesh is purified,^(A)

Festivals

¹⁸ “Thus says the Lord God: In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall take a bull of the herd without blemish and purify the sanctuary.^{(A) 19} The priest shall take some of the blood of the purification offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and the posts of the gate of the inner court.^(B)

2 He said to me: “O mortal,^[a] stand up on your feet, and I will speak with you.”^(A)

¹⁹ He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times and cleanse it and sanctify it from the uncleannesses of the Israelites.^(A)
