¹⁸ were carved^(A) cherubim^(B) and palm trees.^(C) Palm trees alternated with cherubim. Each cherub had two faces:^(D)

³⁶ He engraved cherubim, lions and palm trees on the surfaces of the supports and on the panels, in every available space, with wreaths all around.

¹⁶ The alcoves and the projecting walls inside the gateway were surmounted by narrow parapet openings all around, as was the portico; the openings all around faced inward. The faces of the projecting walls were decorated with palm trees.^(A)

²² Its openings, its portico^(A) and its palm tree decorations had the same measurements as those of the gate facing east. Seven steps led up to it, with its portico opposite them.^(B)

²¹ Each had four faces^(A) and four wings,^(B) and under their wings was what looked like human hands.

⁷ He overlaid the ceiling beams, doorframes, walls and doors of the temple with gold, and he carved cherubim^(A) on the walls.

The Great Multitude in White Robes

⁹ After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language,^(A) standing before the throne^(B) and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes^(C) and were holding palm branches in their hands.

⁷ The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.^{(A) 8} Each of the four living creatures^(B) had six wings^(C) and was covered with eyes all around,^(D) even under its wings. Day and night^(E) they never stop saying:

⁹ Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne^(H) and who lives for ever and ever,^(I)

²⁵ And on the doors of the main hall were carved cherubim and palm trees like those carved on the walls, and there was a wooden overhang on the front of the portico.
