³ When he brought me there, a man was there whose appearance shone like bronze, with a linen cord and a measuring reed in his hand, and he was standing in the gateway.^(A)

The Two Witnesses

11 Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Come and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there,^(A)

³ Going on eastward with a cord in his hand, the man measured one thousand cubits and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep.^(A)

¹⁵ The angel^[a] who talked to me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls.^(A)

¹⁵ his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of many waters.^(A)

⁵ I looked up and saw a man clothed in linen, with a belt of gold from Uphaz around his waist.^{(A) 6} His body was like beryl, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the roar of a multitude.^(B)

⁷ Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot, and they sparkled like burnished bronze.^(A)

Third Vision: The Man with a Measuring Line

2 ^[a]I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.^{(A) 2} Then I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see how wide and how long it is.”^(B)

²⁷ Upward from what appeared like the loins I saw something like gleaming amber, something that looked like fire enclosed all around, and downward from what looked like the loins I saw something that looked like fire, and there was a splendor all around.^(A)
