¹⁷ Lacking food and water, people will look at one another in terror, and they will waste away under their punishment.

²³ Your heads will remain covered, and your sandals will not be taken off. You will not mourn or weep, but you will waste away because of your sins. You will groan among yourselves for all the evil you have done.

³⁹ Those of you who survive will waste away in your enemies’ lands because of their sins and the sins of their ancestors.
