¹⁰ Weigh out twenty shekels^[a](A) of food to eat each day and eat it at set times. ¹¹ Also measure out a sixth of a hin^[b] of water and drink it at set times.^{(B) 12} Eat the food as you would a loaf of barley bread; bake it in the sight of the people, using human excrement^(C) for fuel.” ¹³ The Lord said, “In this way the people of Israel will eat defiled food among the nations where I will drive them.”^(D)

⁵ When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature^(A) say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse!^(B) Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

⁶ Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures,^(A) saying, “Two pounds^[a] of wheat for a day’s wages,^[b] and six pounds^[c] of barley for a day’s wages,^[d](B) and do not damage^(C) the oil and the wine!”

¹⁶ It also forced all people, great and small,^(A) rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,^(B)

¹⁷ so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark,^(A) which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.^(B)
