³ Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand.

⁴ ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon and the ^[a]Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and ^(A)I will assemble them in the midst of this city. ⁵ I ^(B)Myself will fight against you with an ^(C)outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath.

²¹ “Notwithstanding, ^(A)the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments, ^(B)‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness. ²² Nevertheless I ^[a]withdrew My hand and acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out. ²³ Also I raised My hand in an oath to those in the wilderness, that ^(C)I would scatter them among the Gentiles and disperse them throughout the countries, ^24 (D)because they had not executed My judgments, but had despised My statutes, profaned My Sabbaths, and ^(E)their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.
