17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed(D) it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating(E) and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.(F)
19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”(G)
21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever!(H) 22 My God sent his angel,(I) and he shut the mouths of the lions.(J) They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight.(K) Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”
23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound(L) was found on him, because he had trusted(M) in his God.
24 At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den,(N) along with their wives and children.(O) And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.(P)
25 Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language(Q) in all the earth:

His dominion is an eternal dominion;

are regarded as nothing.(H)
He does as he pleases(I)
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.

or say to him: “What have you done?”(L)
36 At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom.(M) My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt(N) and glorify(O) the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just.(P) And those who walk in pride(Q) he is able to humble.(R)

25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God,(A) come out! Come here!”
So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers(B) crowded around them.(C) They saw that the fire(D) had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel(E) and rescued(F) his servants! They trusted(G) in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.(H) 29 Therefore I decree(I) that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble,(J) for no other god can save(K) in this way.”
