²⁴ All the trees of the field shall know
    that I am the Lord.
I bring low the high tree;
    I make high the low tree;
I dry up the green tree
    and make the dry tree flourish.
I the Lord have spoken;
    I will accomplish it.^(A)

¹⁹ God is not a human being, that he should lie,
    or a mortal, that he should change his mind.
Has he promised, and will he not do it?
    Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?^(A)

⁴ I will heal their disloyalty;
    I will love them freely,
    for my anger has turned from them.^(A)
5 I will be like the dew to Israel;
    he shall blossom like the lily;
    he shall strike root like the forests of Lebanon.^[a](B)
6 His shoots shall spread out;
    his beauty shall be like the olive tree
    and his fragrance like that of Lebanon.^(C)
7 They shall again live beneath my^[b] shadow;
    they shall flourish as a garden;^[c]
they shall blossom like the vine;
    their fragrance shall be like the wine of Lebanon.^(D)

¹⁵ As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt,
    show us^[a] marvelous things.^(A)
16 The nations shall see and be ashamed
    of all their might;
they shall lay their hands on their mouths;
    their ears shall be deaf;^(B)
17 they shall lick dust like a snake,
    like the crawling things of the earth;
they shall come trembling out of their fortresses;
    they shall turn in dread to the Lord our God,
    and they shall stand in fear of you.^(C)
