Hope for the Mountains of Israel

36 “Son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel^(A) and say, ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.

²² I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel.^(A) There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms.^(B)

⁴ Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!^(A)

⁸ “‘But you, mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit^(A) for my people Israel, for they will soon come home.

⁴ therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord: This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys,^(A) to the desolate ruins^(B) and the deserted^(C) towns that have been plundered and ridiculed^(D) by the rest of the nations around you^(E)—

¹⁴ I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel^(A) will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture^(B) on the mountains of Israel.^(C)

²⁸ I will make the land a desolate waste, and her proud strength will come to an end, and the mountains^(A) of Israel will become desolate so that no one will cross them.^(B)

⁴⁷ Say to the southern forest:^(A) ‘Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume^(B) all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north^(C) will be scorched by it.^(D)

² “Son of man, set your face^(A) against the mountains^(B) of Israel; prophesy against them^{(C) 3} and say: ‘You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys:^(D) I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.^(E)
