²⁸ They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them. They will live in safety,^(A) and no one will make them afraid.^(B)

²⁶ They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety^(A) in their land with no one to make them afraid.^(B)

¹⁵ No longer will I make you hear the taunts of the nations, and no longer will you suffer the scorn of the peoples or cause your nation to fall, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(A)’”

²⁹ I will provide for them a land renowned^(A) for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine^(B) in the land or bear the scorn^(C) of the nations.^(D)

⁸ As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered^(A) and has become food for all the wild animals,^(B) and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock,^(C)

⁴ therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord: This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys,^(A) to the desolate ruins^(B) and the deserted^(C) towns that have been plundered and ridiculed^(D) by the rest of the nations around you^(E)—

²⁵ “‘I will make a covenant^(A) of peace^(B) with them and rid the land of savage beasts^(C) so that they may live in the wilderness and sleep in the forests in safety.^(D)
