² in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to ^(A)the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.

^12 (A)Foreigners, ^(B)the most ruthless of nations, have cut it down and left it. ^(C)On the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen, and its boughs have been broken in all ^(D)the ravines of the land, and ^(E)all the peoples of the earth have gone away from its shadow and left it.
