³¹ They will ^(A)shave themselves completely bald because of you,
Gird themselves with sackcloth,
And weep for you
With bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.

¹⁸ They will also ^(A)be girded with sackcloth;
Horror will cover them;
Shame will be on every face,
Baldness on all their heads.

⁹ Therefore I will bewail the vine of Sibmah,
With the weeping of Jazer;
I will drench you with my tears,
^(A)O Heshbon and Elealeh;
For ^[a]battle cries have fallen
Over your summer fruits and your harvest.

² He has gone up to the ^[a]temple and Dibon,
To the high places to weep.
Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba;
^(A)On all their heads will be baldness,
And every beard cut off.

⁴ Therefore I said, “Look away from me,
^(A)I will weep bitterly;
Do not labor to comfort me
Because of the plundering of the daughter of my people.”

¹⁶ Make yourself ^(A)bald and cut off your hair,
Because of your ^(B)precious children;
Enlarge your baldness like an eagle,
For they shall go from you into ^(C)captivity.

⁸ Therefore I will wail and howl,
I will go stripped and naked;
^(A)I will make a wailing like the jackals
And a mourning like the ostriches,

¹⁰ I will turn your feasts into ^(A)mourning,
^(B)And all your songs into lamentation;
^(C)I will bring sackcloth on every waist,
And baldness on every head;
I will make it like mourning for an only son,
And its end like a bitter day.
