²⁵ “And you, son of man, on the day I take away their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes,^(A) their heart’s desire,^(B) and their sons and daughters^(C) as well—

²¹ Say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to desecrate my sanctuary^(A)—the stronghold in which you take pride,^(B) the delight of your eyes,^(C) the object of your affection. The sons and daughters^(D) you left behind will fall by the sword.^(E)

²² therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says: “I will punish them. Their young men^(A) will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by famine.

¹⁰ There at Riblah the king of Babylon killed the sons^(A) of Zedekiah before his eyes; he also killed all the officials of Judah.

⁴ Do not trust^(A) in deceptive^(B) words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”
