⁴⁵ But righteous men will ^(A)judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses, and ^(B)blood is on their hands.

Both Sisters Judged

³⁶ The Lord also said to me: “Son of man, will you ^(A)judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then ^(B)declare to them their abominations. ³⁷ For they have committed adultery, and ^(C)blood is on their hands. They have committed adultery with their idols, and even sacrificed their sons ^(D)whom they bore to Me, passing them through the fire, to devour them. ³⁸ Moreover they have done this to Me: They have ^(E)defiled My sanctuary on the same day and ^(F)profaned My Sabbaths. ³⁹ For after they had slain their children for their idols, on the same day they came into My sanctuary to profane it; and indeed ^(G)thus they have done in the midst of My house.

³⁸ And I will judge you as ^(A)women who break wedlock or ^(B)shed blood are judged; I will bring blood upon you in fury and jealousy. ³⁹ I will also give you into their hand, and they shall throw down your shrines and break down ^(C)your ^[a]high places. ^(D)They shall also strip you of your clothes, take your beautiful jewelry, and leave you naked and bare.

^40 (E)“They shall also bring up an assembly against you, ^(F)and they shall stone you with stones and thrust you through with their swords. ⁴¹ They shall ^(G)burn your houses with fire, and ^(H)execute judgments on you in the sight of many women; and I will make you ^(I)cease playing the harlot, and you shall no longer hire lovers. ⁴² So ^(J)I will lay to rest My fury toward you, and My jealousy shall depart from you. I will be quiet, and be angry no more. ⁴³ Because ^(K)you did not remember the days of your youth, but ^[b]agitated Me with all these things, surely ^(L)I will also recompense your ^[c]deeds on your own head,” says the Lord God. “And you shall not commit lewdness in addition to all your abominations.

^10 (A)‘The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.

³ Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, ⁴ they said to Him, “Teacher, ^[a]this woman was caught in ^(A)adultery, in the very act. ^5 (B)Now ^[b]Moses, in the law, commanded us ^[c]that such should be stoned. But what do You ^[d]say?” ⁶ This they said, testing Him, that they ^(C)might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, ^[e]as though He did not hear.

⁷ So when they continued asking Him, He ^[f]raised Himself up and said to them, ^(D)“He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

“So they returned and said:

¹⁴ Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts:

²¹ then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with ^(A)stones, because she has ^(B)done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. ^(C)So you shall ^[a]put away the evil from among you.

^22 (D)“If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then both of them shall die—the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall put away the evil from Israel.

²³ “If a young woman who is a virgin is ^(E)betrothed to a husband, and a man finds her in the city and lies with her, ²⁴ then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he ^(F)humbled his neighbor’s wife; ^(G)so you shall put away the evil from among you.
