⁴⁵ But righteous men ^(A)shall pass judgment on them with the sentence of adulteresses, and with the sentence of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.”

³⁶ The Lord said to me: ^(A)“Son of man, ^(B)will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Declare to them their abominations. ³⁷ For ^(C)they have committed adultery, ^(D)and blood is on their hands. With their idols they have committed adultery, and they have even ^(E)offered up^[a] to them for food the children whom they had borne to me. ³⁸ Moreover, this they have done to me: ^(F)they have defiled my sanctuary on the same day and ^(G)profaned my Sabbaths. ³⁹ For when ^(H)they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day ^(I)they came into my sanctuary to profane it. And behold, ^(J)this is what they did in my house.

^38 (A)And I will judge you ^(B)as women who commit adultery and ^(C)shed blood are judged, and bring upon you the blood of wrath and jealousy. ³⁹ And I will give you into their hands, and they shall throw down your ^(D)vaulted chamber and break down ^(E)your lofty places. ^(F)They shall strip you of your clothes and take ^(G)your beautiful jewels and leave you ^(H)naked and bare. ^40 (I)They shall bring up a crowd against you, ^(J)and they shall stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords. ^41 (K)And they shall ^(L)burn your houses and ^(M)execute judgments upon you in the sight of many women. ^(N)I will make you stop playing the whore, and ^(O)you shall also give payment no more. ^42 (P)So will I satisfy my wrath on you, and my jealousy shall depart from you. I will be calm and will no more be angry. ⁴³ Because you have not remembered ^(Q)the days of your youth, but have enraged me with all these things, therefore, behold, ^(R)I have returned your deeds upon your head, declares the Lord God. Have you not ^(S)committed lewdness in addition to all your abominations?

Punishments for Sexual Immorality

¹⁰ “If a ^(A)man commits adultery with the wife of^[a] his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

³ The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst ⁴ they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. ⁵ Now ^(A)in the Law, Moses commanded us ^(B)to stone such women. So what do you say?” ⁶ This they said ^(C)to test him, ^(D)that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. ⁷ And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, ^(E)“Let him who is without sin among you ^(F)be the first to throw a stone at her.”

^6 (A)But my words and my statutes, which I commanded ^(B)my servants the prophets, did they not ^(C)overtake your fathers? So they repented and said, ^(D)‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for ^(E)our ways and ^(F)deeds, so has he dealt with us.’”

The Lord Proclaims Judgment

²¹ then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and ^(A)the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has ^(B)done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father's house. ^(C)So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

^22 (D)“If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. ^(E)So you shall purge the evil from Israel.

²³ “If there is a ^(F)betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her, ²⁴ then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor's wife. ^(G)So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
