⁴¹ You sat on an elegant couch,^(A) with a table^(B) spread before it on which you had placed the incense^(C) and olive oil that belonged to me.^(D)

⁶ The garden had hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars. There were couches^(A) of gold and silver on a mosaic pavement of porphyry, marble, mother-of-pearl and other costly stones.

¹⁶ They alone are to enter my sanctuary; they alone are to come near my table^(A) to minister before me and serve me as guards.^(B)

¹⁷ We will certainly do everything we said we would:^(A) We will burn incense^(B) to the Queen of Heaven^(C) and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials^(D) did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem.^(E) At that time we had plenty of food^(F) and were well off and suffered no harm.^(G)

⁷ “By offering defiled food^(A) on my altar.

“But you ask,^(B) ‘How have we defiled you?’

“By saying that the Lord’s table^(C) is contemptible.
